Wild & Scenic Film Festival, Feb. 9th!
The Gettysburg College Department of Environmental Studies will host a Wild & Scenic Film Festival at the Majestic Theater in downtown Gettysburg on Sunday, February 9th, from 6:00-9:30pm (film screening begins at 7:00pm). The Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a call to action. At Wild & Scenic, film-goers are transformed into a congregation of committed activists, dedicated to saving our increasingly threatened planet. This evening will feature 2 hours of films, ranging from 2 – 27 minutes long, that illustrate the Earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet, and the work communities around the world are doing to protect the environment.
From 6-7pm, visit booths of local environmental groups to learn how you can become involved!
All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve to help a new animal ambassador leave its rehabilitation facility and move to the Preserve: an owl! Funding from the film festival will support the renovation of the Preserve’s aviary, permitting for the owl, and the creation of education materials. This day also marks the opening of Maple Sugaring season at the Preserve!
