STEM & Forest Ecology

In this 3-part series, we'll explore forest ecology through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). Each session is designed for ages 5-12 and will include a nature walk, weather permitting. Caregivers must stay with their participants. We encourage you to bring lunch to enjoy afterward.

Part 1

Sept. 20th - Water & Wind, Friends & Foes. On this day, participants will explore the forces of nature and how much energy it takes to uproot large, healthy trees. 10am-11:30am

 Part 2

Sept. 27th - A "Dead" Tree Isn't Really Dead. On this day, participants will discover how a dead tree can still be a thriving and important member of the forest community long after it falls. 10am-11:30am

 Part 3

Oct. 4th - Decomposers & Their Work. On the last day, we'll wrap up our knowledge by exploring how the life cycle continues as decomposers rebuild the forest quite literally from the ground up. 10am-11:30am
