Wild Strawberries

Wild Strawberries is Strawberry Hill’s summer program designed to immerse kids in nature while engaging their hearts and minds with hands-on, play-based learning outdoors.

Wild Strawberries will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 11th to August 8th from 12:30pm-4:30pm. There will be no Wild Strawberries the week of July 4th.

This is a drop-off event for ages 5-12 and will include snack time. Cost is $40/day or save 10% by registering for all 8 Tuesday sessions or all 8 Thursday sessions. Save 20% when you register for all 8 weeks (both Tues & Thurs). Click below to register or click on any day’s theme.


Week 1

Create memories that will last a lifetime as you join your friends on the trails. We’ll learn the basics of hiking safety, understanding landmarks, finding water, building shelters, and being kind to the forest!

Many animals are architectural masters. Explore the building concepts and environmental impact of some of America’s coolest animal builders and even put your knowledge to the test when you build a natural creation of your own!

Colors of the Forest

Many artists are inspired by nature, but few can rival the art of nature herself! Walk the trails of Strawberry Hill and explore the colors, patterns, and textures that are all around us. Learn how plants and animals use color in different ways, and spend an afternoon making natural art of your own.  

A Healthy Watershed

Grab your water shoes because this day is all about water! We’ll learn how to locate hidden sources of water, water safety while out in the woods, how to prevent pollution, and why a healthy watershed is important.

Survival: up your game

Take your survival game up a notch! Join us in the woods as we discover advanced shelter-making, dangerous animals to watch for, knots everyone should know, and building emergency food caches.

Citizen Scientist

What makes a healthy ecosystem and why is biodiversity important? Search the creeks and hiking paths as we look and document signs of biodiversity in our forest!


Week 4

We’re going on a treasure hunt! Join us as we venture into the mountains on a geocaching quest. We’ll learn about land forms & elevation, tackle a group challenge, and have a blast as we explore our favorite trails.

Many animals have had a bad rep for way too long. Let’s explore some of the mysteries behind their bad reputations and discover some little-known facts about these misunderstood creatures to help them become one of the “good guys”.

Backyard Geologist

This mountain is a geological treasure trove. Join us as we hike the trails and learn how mountains are formed and what makes the South Mountain range special. Let’s dig in the dirt and discover the secret treasures the mountain holds.

Survivor: Mad Science

Join us for a survival adventure like no other! We’ll explore the STEM behind outdoor survival including how forces of nature impact a shelter during a storm, how to tell time without a watch or phone, and more.

Leave No Trace

Have fun with new friends as you learn about how to prepare for a hike and what it means to go hiking responsibly. Meet some of our Animal Ambassadors as you discover why healthy environments are key to protecting the web of life.

Go Green!

Have a favorite shirt that no longer fits or a broken toy that you love but can’t bear to toss? Join us for a day of crafting and fun as we recreate the magic of our favorite items! Learn no-sew techniques and how to make art of found items from our favorite trails. Bring your creativity, a favorite item, and we’ll supply the rest.

Frog & Toad Go Hiking

Frog and Toad might be best friends but they’re very different. Explore frogs’ and toads’ habitats and discover what makes these amphibians so much fun!

At Home in the Forest

Where do fairytales come from and what can they teach us about the forest? Join us as we gather together and learn about the art of storytelling, why communities passed down folktales, and what these stories can tell us about the forest around us. This day will include campfire s’mores!

Mystery at Middle Creek

New, strange things are happening at Strawberry Hill! Learn how to interpret the clues left behind by creatures unseen and work together to solve the mysteries in this afternoon of outdoor sleuthing!

Survivor: The Olympics

Join us for an Olympics-style survivalist competition! We’ve spent the summer learning how to survive in the wild and now we’ll put those skill to the test as we team up to tackle a challenge like no other. Do you have what it takes to win?
