Program Descriptions with Curricular Topics and Ages

Hair Dye & Nature Ink – Tired of the same old boxed dyes and inks? Join us for a demonstration and discussion on the various natural dyes and inks available in your own backyard!

Curricular topics/ages - Adult but all ages welcome, natural dyes, chemistry, health and safety

Patterns in Nature Hike – Explore the Nature Trail with a Strawberry Hill Naturalist and search for patterns in nature including spirals, fractals, the Fibonacci sequence, and more!

Curricular topics/ages - All ages/grades, patterns in nature, math in nature, fractals, tree growth patterns

Nature Journaling – Join us as we explore how to create and use your Nature Journal to support your curricular needs. We’ll explore some resources you can use to share your citizen science studies. Bring your own journal and we’ll supply the rest!

            Curricular topics/ages - All ages/grades, citizen science, environmental education, art, creative and technical writing

Leaf Colors– Join us as we explore the chemistry behind leaf color changes and discover why leaves are brighter some years than others. Does weather impact leaf colors in the fall? Can trees change their leaf colors from year to year? And what do all those colors mean for the forest overall?

           Curricular topics/ages - 7th-10th grade science, chemistry

Color Run – Join in the fall fun of our first ever Color Run! It’s a little bit race, little bit obstacle course, and a fun time for the little ones. Break out your brightest and boldest colors and join in the fun!

Nature Classroom - Explore the Nature Classroom’s various hands-on exhibits and environmental science activities at your own pace!
