Program Descriptions with Curricular Topics and Ages
Meet Ollie, Strawberry Hill’s Animal Ambassador - Learn about skunks’ temperament and what to do (and not do!) if you run into a skunk in your backyard!
Curricular topics/ages - All ages/grades, animal behavior, native animals, habitat and diet of native species, caring for an “exotic” animal, animal coloration, animal adaptations
Habitat Hike – Explore the Nature Trail with a Strawberry Hill Naturalist and search for evidence of skunks as well as identify potential homes for these wonderful creatures!
Curricular topics/ages - All ages/grades, habitat and diet of native species, physical activity, wildlife-habitat relationships, human impact on an environment
Skunk Tales and Sweet Treats – Join us for story time as we hear stories from around the forest and enjoy some treats around the campfire!
Curricular topics/ages - All ages/grades, folktales, Pennsylvania history, Pennsylvania folktales, Native American folktales, literature
The Science of Stink – What makes a skunk’s spray smell so bad? Explore the chemistry behind the stink and what to do if you or your pet are unexpectedly sprayed by a skunk.
Curricular topics/ages - 7th-10th grade chemistry, emergency preparedness and medicine
Skunk Trivia – Join us for a trivia game like no other! We’ll set up groups and play to win some fun prizes. Have a blast as we test our skunk knowledge!

Nature Classroom - Explore the Nature Classroom’s various hands-on exhibits and environmental science activities at your own pace!
